The Alo Main station (now named “Safo” which means “foundation”) has consistently produced some of Ethiopia’s best washed coffees since its first harvest in 2021. Tamiru opened this station in his home village of Alo, Bensa, Sidama, after seeing the impact of Ethiopia’s first Cup of Excellence competition in 2020. The station processes cherries from 80 smallholder farmers, and while most lots are washed, they produce all kinds of processes. This washed lot is stunningly clean, with strong florals, jasmine, and peach.
